The report on COVID-19 prevention and control, especially the response to the Omicron variant, has just been sent to the National Assembly.
The Government said that over 70% of Vietnam’s population has so far been fully vaccinated, six months ahead of the timeline recommended by the World Health Organization. Vietnam is actively preparing for the vaccination against COVID-19 for children from 5 to 11 years old according to scientific recommendations to ensure safety and effectiveness.
The Government report assesses that the COVID-19 pandemic has been basically controlled on a national scale, but the risk of outbreak spreading is very high as Vietnam has recorded infections of Omicron variants.
Pandemic prevention and control has been implemented promptly and effectively, especially when Vietnam’s strategy shift to "Safe and flexible adaptation and effective control of the pandemic" has achieved positive results, the report said.
