Vietnam and Canada’s British Columbia boost cooperation

(VOVWORLD) - John Joseph Horgan, premier of Canada's British Columbia province, has congratulated Vietnam on its success in containing the COVID-19 pandemic and expressed his wish to deepen bilateral relations as Vietnam and Canada will mark the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic ties in 2023.

During a meeting with Vietnamese Consul General to Vancouver Nguyen Quang Trung on Saturday, the two sides discussed the potentials and cooperation opportunities for Vietnam and British Columbia’s businesses in education, tourism, people exchanges, and labor.

They said the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) is opening new opportunities for bilateral cooperation in trade and investment.

Last year, trade turnover between Vietnam and British Columbia reached around 1.6 billion USD despite negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
