(VOVworld) - The Vietnamese Embassy in Brazil and Peru has held a ceremony to mark the 20^th anniversary of Vietnam Peru diplomatic ties.

The event included a movie show a photo exhibition on bilateral cooperation. Speaking at the meeting on Wednesday, Ambassador Nguyen Van Kien praised major landmarks in bilateral ties, especially an increase of trade turnover from 40 million dollars in 2005 to 210 million dollars so far this year. Secretary General of Peruvian Foreign Ministry Alberto Salas Barahona said Vietnam and Asian countries hold important positions in Peru’s foreign policy. Peru has opened its embassy in Hanoi and expected an early opening of a Vietnamese Embassy in Lima to boost bilateral ties for mutual benefit.
