(VOVworld) - The 5th Congress of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly (VAE) for the 2016-2021 tenure opened in Hanoi on Wednesday.

The congress defined the Association’s direction and tasks for the coming period, focusing on building it into an agency strong in politics, ideology, and organization.
The Association will develop human resources to improve the quality of care for the elderly.
The Congress elected a 98-member central committee with Madam Pham Thi Hai Chuyen, former Minister of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs, as the association’s chairwoman.
