Vietnam attends Human Rights Council
(VOVworld)- Vietnam’s delegation, led by Deputy Foreign Minister Le Luong Minh, is expected to deliver a speech on Wednesday at the 19 th meeting of the United Nation’s Human Rights Council, which opened yesterday in Geneva. More than 80 high-ranking representatives and ministers from member countries and international organisations are attending the meeting, which will last until March 23. The human rights situation in several countries, including Syria , will be high on the Council’s agenda. Nine panel discussions during the meeting will cover such issues as the relation between sports and human rights, freedom of expression on the internet, and the rights of the disabled. On the sidelines of the meeting, the Vietnamese delegation is scheduled to hold talks with several countries to prepare for Vietnam’s candidacy for membership on the Human Rights Council from 2013-2016.
