Vietnam attends WIPO General Assembly’s 59th session
(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam on Monday submitted to World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Director General Francis Gurry a proposal to join the Hague Agreement concerning the international registration of industrial designs.

On the sideline of the 59th session of The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) General Assembly, Vietnam’s Minister of Science and Technology Chu Ngoc Anh, said the Vietnamese Government has promulgated many policies and measures to increase Vietnam’s global innovation index (GII). As a result, Vietnam’s GII has increased steadily in recent years, leaping from 45th to 42nd position in 2018. Vietnam is a member of all three WIPO treaties on international registration of inventions, trademarks, and designs.
In his address at the session, Minister Ngoc Anh said ASEAN is stepping up innovation initiatives to catch up with the Fourth Industrial Revolution. He said ASEAN is implementing an action plan on intellectual property for 2016-2025 and has made remarkable progress.
