Vietnam attends World Francophone Women’s Forum
(VOV) - A Vietnamese delegation, led by Ambassador Duong Van Quang who is also Head of the Vietnamese mission to UNESCO, participated in the first World Francophone Women's Forum in Paris on Wednesday.
Speaking to the press, ambassador Quang said the forum sounded an alarm on the issue of violence to women and gender discrimination: "The International Organization of Francophonie (OIF) has many initiatives and gives special attention to gender equality. But there is a gap between initiatives and their implementation. Most of member states are developing countries where domestic violence and gender discrimination remain a major problem. Vietnam has specific measures to deal with this issue and we want to share at this forum. Vietnam has made much progress in gender equality, especially in the fight against violence against women".
