Vietnam backs global effort to counter nuclear terrorism

(VOVworld) – Vietnam joined 85 other countries and 4 international organizations at the 8th plenary session of the Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism in Mexico last weekend. The Vietnamese delegation praised the Initiative’s success in connecting efforts by the international community to tackle nuclear terrorism threats. Vietnam affirmed its support for all activities carried out under the framework of the Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism and related Working Groups and emphasized the leading role of the United Nations in the fight against terrorism and the central role of the International Atomic Energy Agency in nuclear safety-related issues and international cooperation. Vietnam joined the Initiative in April, 2010.
