Vietnam backs international law in maintaining peace and security
(VOVWORLD) - The International Court of Justice (ICJ) helps maintain peace and security by adjudicating international lawsuits and providing a consulting mechanism, Vietnamese Ambassador to the UN Dang Dinh Quy told a UN Security Council online meeting on Wednesday.

Ambassador Quy affirmed Vietnam's consistent policy of abiding by the basic principles of international law, settling disputes peacefully, refraining from the use or threat of force, strengthening the role of international legal bodies, promoting cooperation and friendship, and contributing to the maintenance of international peace and security. He said Vietnam supports international legal processes, including the ICJ, supports strengthening international cooperation, building national capacity in adjudicating mechanisms, international arbitration, and called on the ICJ to strengthen training activities and connecting with young people in international law.
