Speaking at the event Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member and Head of the Party Central Committee’s Mass Mobilization Commission praised the Association’s activities over the past half century and excellent blind people who have set an example of strong will  and dedication. She said:“Relevant agencies should work to amend current policies and legal regulations relating to people with disabilities, including the blind. Blind people’s opinions on the issue must be listened to. Preparations are need for Vietnam to ratify the Marrakesh Treaty to facilitate access to published works for persons who are blind, visually-impaired, or otherwise print disabled.  Fatherland Front and other socio-political organizations should promote communications work and mobilize resources help blind people improve their lives and integrate into society.”

The Vietnam Blind Association now has chapters in 56 cities and provinces with more than 74,000 members.
