Mr. Dung made the remark at a special session on the human rights situation in the occupied Palestinian territory, held by the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva, Switzerland, on Friday.
He said Vietnam calls for the settlement of conflicts by peaceful measures and efforts to seek a comprehensive, fair and sustainable solution, while ensuring life safety for civilians and the legitimate interests of concerned parties as well as peace and stability in the region.
The ambassador stressed that all solutions related to Jerusalem should adhere to international law, especially resolutions of the United Nations, with consensus of related parties. He emphasized Vietnam’s consistent position of supporting the just struggle of the Palestinian people and the two-State solution with the establishment of a State of Palestine that co-exists in peace with the State of Israel along the pre-1967 border and with East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine.
The UN Human Rights Council voted Friday to establish a Commission of Inquiry to examine possible war crimes committed by Israel during the recent confrontations on the Gaza border.
