Vietnam calls on parties in Somalia to put national interest first
(VOVWORLD) - Related parties in Somalia need to find ways to resolve differences, participate in dialogues, build trust, and exert greater efforts towards political consensus in organizing an election on the basis of an agreement reached in May, Ambassador Pham Hai Anh, deputy head of the Vietnamese mission to the United Nations said Friday.

At a UN Security Council meeting on Somalia, Mr. Anh shared the international community’s concern over conflicts in Somalia and acknowledged Somalian leaders’ readiness to negotiate.
He underscored unity and efforts to fight terrorism, the COVID-19 pandemic, natural disasters, economic difficulties, and other threats to peace and sustainable development in Somalia.
Ambassador Anh pledged Vietnam’s support to the role of regional organizations, including the African Union and the Intergovernmental Authority for Development
of Africa, in resolving relating political issues.
