At a meeting with Canadian Senator Stan Kutcher on the sidelines of the 31st Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF31) in Manila, Philippines on Thursday, Hai said Vietnam welcomes Canada's new Indo-Pacific Strategy (IPS), which attaches great importance to ASEAN’s central role and Vietnam's position in the region as a "trade window" and a "bridge" to the region.
Both sides acknowledged that parliamentary cooperation between the two countries has been increasingly effective. Vietnam appreciates Canada to continue sharing experience in law-making, social security, gender equality, labor, climate change, sustainable energy transition, and green economy.
Vietnam proposed the Canadian Parliament support the Vietnamese National Assembly in improving the capacity of parliamentarians and building an electronic legislature.
