Both leaders met on Tuesday on the sidelines of the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) and agreed to further Vietnam-Canada bilateral cooperation.

Prime Minister Chinh asked Canada to open up market for Vietnamese agro-aquatic products, hoping that Canadian enterprises will intensify investments in Vietnam, especially in green growth, digital economy, and climate change response.

They agreed that the two countries should speed up negotiations to recognize each other's green visas and vaccine passports. The Vietnamese leader asked Canada to assist Vietnam  in reforming and perfecting institutions, technology and green finance, and training human resources in climate change response and innovation.

Vietnam’s Prime Minister asked Canada to create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to live, work and study in Canada. Prime Minister Trudeau welcomed the contributions of the Vietnamese community in Canada, affirming his willingness to train students for Vietnam and promote people-to-people exchanges with Vietnam.

Both shared the view of maintaining peace and stability as well as promoting legitimate and legal interests in line with international law for peace and common prosperity.
