(VOVworld) – The 40th session of the Governing Council of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) has elected Gilbert Fossoun Houngbo, former Prime Minister of Togo, as President of the Fund. He will be sworn into the office on April 1.
Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of Finance Tran Xuan Ha, who led the Vietnamese delegation to the 2-day session in Rome, said the session reviewed major achievements and discuss future cooperation direction. Mr. Ha added IFAD has helped Vietnam in 17 projects worth half a million USD being implemented in 11 poor and remote provinces. The Fund has upgraded its representative office in Vietnam to regional office.
The IFAD Governing Council session concluded on Thursday.
