Vietnam, Cuba seek to ramp up cooperation during FM’s visit

(VOVWORLD) -Party General Secretary To Lam on Wednesday suggested that Vietnam and Cuba work together to effectively implement projects in food and energy production; expand cooperation into potential fields such as biotechnology, healthcare, and tourism; and continue to effectively deliver cooperation mechanisms and agreements between the two Parties and two countries.

At a reception in Hanoi on Wednesday for Politburo member and Foreign Minister of Cuba Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla who is on an official visit to Vietnam this week, General Secretary Lam said he believes that Cuba will record new achievements in national construction and defense.

FM Parrilla affirmed that Cuba attaches great importance to the cooperative relationship between the two Parties, which is creating a solid foundation and orientation for bilateral relations.

Also on Wednesday during a meeting with the visiting Cuban top diplomat, President Luong Cuong proposed that the two sides continue to promote the exchange of high-level delegations; regularly exchange and coordinate to effectively implement the agreements agreed between the two parties; boost dialogue and cooperation mechanisms between the two countries as well as strengthen cooperation at multilateral forums.

The Politburo member and FM reiterated Cuba's determination to deepen cooperation between the two countries in economics, trade, investment and other fields.

Earlier the same day, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son held talks with Politburo member and Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla.
