(VOVWORLD) -The Vietnamese Embassies in Turkey and Syria have informed the host authorities of the government’s decision to provide Turkey and Syria with 100,000 USD each as relief aid to support their recovery efforts following a devastating earthquake on February 6.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Turkey brought the rescue team of the Ministry of Defense to the site and delivered relief goods to the Deputy Governor of Hatay province. It has coordinated with local authorities on accommodation and security for Vietnamese rescuers.
In Syria, the Vietnamese Embassy together with representatives of the Vietnamese community in Iran, have raised funds to support the Syrian people affected by the earthquake. The embassy signed the mourning book and handed over the donation to the Syrian Ambassador to Iran.

Vietnam has sent two teams of 100 military personnel and police officers, along with equipment, to Turkey to join search and rescue operations in the country.
As of Wednesday, the death toll of a magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Turkey and Syria topped 41,000. More than 105,000 people have been injured and 2.2 million people displaced. Survivors are facing a crisis of food and shelter, while the cold weather makes living conditions even more extreme. Households in Turkey and Syria say they are dealing with the psychological trauma of witnessing the disaster.
