The event was organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in Belgium and Vietnam Mission to the EU.

Addressing the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Belgium and Head of the Vietnam Mission to the EU Vuong Thua Phong praised the EP’s contributions in promoting Vietnam-EU relations. Vietnam supports EU efforts to expand cooperation in Asia-Pacific, Phong said.

The group’s President Jan Zahradil said the most important task is to push ratification of the Europe-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and that final legal documents are under review. As part of efforts to push ratification of the agreement, Zahradil is scheduled to visit Vietnam next week. A delegation from the group will tour Vietnam next year to strengthen bilateral parliamentary cooperation.
