(VOVWORLD) - BNN Bloomberg, Canada's business news network, recently published a report highlighting the extraordinary 100-fold increase in solar power that has taken place in Vietnam over the last two years.

According to the report, Vietnam now ranks 7th in the world in terms of clean energy capacity and last year, only the US and China installed more solar panels than Vietnam.
Logan Knox, Chief Executive of Vietnam operations for UPC Renewables, which builds and operates wind and solar farms across Asia, called Vietnam’s growth in clean energy “unbelievable” and said he has never seen a country explode like this in solar.
The report said Vietnam has signaled that global efforts to discourage the use of fossil fuels and boost the accessibility of clean alternatives are bearing fruit.
The Vietnamese government turned to the solar industry a few years ago as a growing number of power shortages threatened to sap its economic momentum, it said.
