Vietnam eyes GDP growth of 6.5-7% in Q3

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Saturday emphasized Vietnam's target of achieving GDP growth of 6.5-7% and keeping inflation below 4.5% in the third quarter of this year.

To this end, greater efforts should be made to overcome challenges, improve the business climate, and effectively mobilize and utilize internal and external resources, Prime Minister Chinh said at the monthly cabinet meeting for June.    

The Ministry of Planning and Investment reported at the meeting that in the first half of this year, macroeconomic stability was ensured, inflation controlled, growth promoted, and major balances of the economy secured.

Notably, GDP in the first quarter grew 5.66%, the highest in Southeast Asia, and 6.42% in the first 6 months.

International arrivals in June reached nearly 1.2 million, up more than 28% year-on-year.
