(VOVworld) - Vietnam and France have agreed on various measures to strengthen their defence ties and bring them in line with modern requirements.

The consensus was reached during the first Vietnam-France Defence Policy Dialogue in Paris held during the Vietnam defence delegation’s working visit that began early this week.

The two sides agreed that on the basis of cooperation agreement signed in 2009, defence cooperation has made progress, particularly in UN peacekeeping operations and maritime security.

Both sides agreed to sign the Vietnam-France joint vision on defence cooperation and the agreement on mutual exchange and protection of confidential information.

At the end of the dialogue, the heads of the two delegations witnessed the signing of a technical agreement on cooperation in military medicine and a similar pact on collaboration in peacekeeping between the two defence ministries.
