Vietnam holds large scale drill to combat Covid-19
(VOVWORLD) -Vietnamese authorities and military units have carried out a large-scale joint exercise to practice on necessary procedures to respond to different scenarios of the novel coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

The exercise on an unprecedented scale includes five scenarios based on five levels of severity of the epidemic. In the most serious scenario, there are more than 30,000 confirmed cases in the country and the virus has spread to several military units.
Speaking at the event in Hanoi on Wednesday, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam praised the military’s efforts in preventing Covid-19 epidemic in Vietnam. He emphasized on priorities, including prevention of transmission, no cross transmission among health staff, no public panic, no fatalities and no negative impact on economic development and international cooperation.

Deputy Prime Minister Dam said: “This is a comprehensive drill not only for epidemic control but also for dealing with non-conventional security threats in the future. Through this exercise and recent quarantine in Son Loi commune and other areas, we have to strengthen inter-sectoral coordination and draw lessons while consider law and regulation amendment if necessary.”
Ho Chi Minh City held a drill to make it well-prepared and ready for a possible outbreak in the southern region. The drill had an exercise on the operation of disease prevention mechanism with a five-level hypothetical situation from the early appearance of the disease to its spread to the community.
