Vietnam, India bolster security cooperation

(VOVWORLD) -Vietnamese and Indian security chiefs have pledged to deepen the two countries’ Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, especially in security and defense, to contribute to maintaining peace, prosperity and stability.

Minister of Public Security General To Lam, who was on a visit to India, on Monday met National Security Advisor Ajit Kumar Doval.

They emphasized the importance of the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and reaffirmed peace, stability, maritime safety and security, and freedom of navigation and overflight in the Indo-Pacific region.

Both reiterated the need to settle disputes peacefully, respect international law, not threaten to use force and use force, and not unilaterally change the status quo.

On Monday, Minister To Lam paid a courtesy visit to Vice President of India Shri Jagdeep DhanKhar and Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai, and offered flowers at the President Ho Chi Minh Monument in New Delhi.
