(VOVWORLD) - The annual program called Vietnam Innovation Challenge (VIC) 2024 was launched in Hanoi on Monday, seeking to honor solutions that improve semiconductor value chain, packaging, and testing, as well as prioritize applications in AI and solutions that use AI to support business creation, development, and productivity.

Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment told the launch ceremony that the VIC 2024 closely follows the fact that the semiconductor industry plays an increasingly vital role in global economic competitiveness, the rapid development of AI, and the strategy set by the Vietnamese government for high-tech industries.
“It demonstrates the vision and strong support from the Ministry of Planning and Investment in promoting the two potential sectors and achieving the strategic goals set forth by the government," said Dong.
By honoring such solutions, the program will eventually encourage new products and services that increase the competitiveness of Vietnamese businesses in the global marketplace.

Rafael Frankel, Director of Public Policy for Southeast Asia, Meta Corporation, the program’s co-organizer, said, “With the Vietnam Innovation Challenge, we are creating an intellectual playground to foster ideas, and leverage opportunities within the semiconductor and AI industries.”
“This initiative will help foster Vietnam's dynamic tech sector to integrate into the global digital economy even further than in other areas. We look forward to receiving a lot of brilliant solutions that will help pave the way for Vietnam to become an innovation hub of the region and the world,” Rafael noted.
Winning solutions are eligible for prizes totaling 300,000 USD and support in surveying foreign markets, getting access to co-working spaces and laboratories, expanding markets, piloting solutions in localities across Vietnam, and developing a brand image on advertising platforms.
The program will run through October. Details are available on the website https://vic.nic.gov.vn/en.
The Vietnam Innovation Challenge, the first program to realize the vision of the Vietnam Innovation Initiative (InnovateVN), is steered by the Ministry of Planning and Investment and organized by the National Innovation Center (NIC) and Meta Corporation.
The program seeks innovative solutions from domestic and international organizations and individuals to tackle key national challenges and work toward prosperous, sustainable development for Vietnam.
