(VOVWORLD) - The establishment of the National Innovation Center demonstrates the Government's strong determination to make innovation one of Vietnam's growth drivers in the new era.

Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment, said at a press conference in Hanoi on Monday to mark the 5th anniversary of the NIC and to launch Vietnam Innovation Day 2024 that over the past five years, NIC has affirmed its role in promoting innovation by becoming a place to promote the national innovation ecosystem and a focal point for attracting foreign and domestic resources to support innovation and creative startups.
“Among its achievements, here are several highlights: It has built policies on innovation to support small and medium-sized enterprises, mechanisms, and preferential policies for innovation; completed an infrastructure of operating facilities; developed an innovation ecosystem involving all stakeholders; and helped enterprises access resources and develop high-quality human resources in Vietnam,” said Ngoc.
On this occasion, Vietnam Innovation Day 2024 and the Vietnam Innovation Network Platform were launched to connect startups and businesses with experts at home and abroad.

According to Vu Quoc Huy, NIC’s Director, the platform will help Vietnamese talents around the world interact, create new ideas, and realize those ideas in high-value products and services.
Huy said the two-day event, scheduled for early next month at the Hoa Lac High-tech Park, will be attended by leaders of the Government, ministries, localities, domestic and international technology enterprises and organizations, and 20,000 other visitors.
Within the framework of the event, there will be exhibits of innovative technology and a seminar on Vietnamese businesses and youth amid the AI and semiconductor wave, attended by Nick Clegg, President of Global Affairs at Meta, and leaders of Qualcomm and NVIDIA.
At this year’s Vietnam Innovation Challenge, individuals and organizations with outstanding contributions to Vietnam’s innovation ecosystem will be honored.
