At a recent working session with IOM General Director Amy Pope, Ambassador Mai said Vietnamese ministries, sectors, and branches have worked together to ensure a multi-sectoral approach to handling migration challenges.
She pointed to several areas of cooperation, including protecting the rights of migrant workers, ensuring access to health care for migrants, and improving people’s ability to adapt and respond to climate change.
Pope said the IOM is ready to cooperate with Vietnam, adding that Vietnam and the IOM have a great potential for closer cooperation within international mechanisms such as those for meeting migration challenges while attaining development goals, and those for boosting climate change response capacity.
