(VOVWORLD) - UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay described Vietnam as a model of effective cooperation with UNESCO during an interview with Vietnamese media prior to her 3-day official visit to Vietnam.

Ms. Azoulay said that since Vietnam joined UNESCO in 1976, the two have built a strong relationship. Eight sites in Vietnam have been named to the list of World Heritage Sites and 13 others to the list of Intangible Cultural Heritages.
Elected in 2021, Vietnam is a member of the UNESCO Executive Committee for a four-year term.
Ms. Azoulay said that during her visit, which began on Monday, she will meet Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and visit Ngo Si Lien Secondary School, a member of the UNESCO Associated Schools Network, Trang An Landscape Complex, listed as a World Heritage in 2014, and Hue, the ancient capital of Vietnam.
