Vietnam is an important bridge between ASEAN and partners
(VOVWORLD) - After 57 years since its establishment (August 8, 1967 - August 8, 2024), the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is regarded as one of the most successful regional organizations in the world. Vietnam has played a crucial role in this success, particularly in shaping the bloc's strategic visions and fostering relations between ASEAN and major partners.

Since joining ASEAN in 1995, Vietnam has contributed significantly to three major milestones: serving as Chairman of the ASEAN Standing Committee for the 2000-2001 term, and Chair of ASEAN in both 2010 and 2020.
Additionally, Vietnam has been instrumental in shaping ASEAN's strategic priorities. This includes building and approving the Hanoi Action Program in 1998, contributing to the building and implementation of ASEAN Vision 2020 and ASEAN Community Vision 2025, supporting the ASEAN Charter, and successfully coordinating relations between ASEAN and key partners such as China, Japan, South Korea, the USA, and Russia.
Vietnam’s contributions are widely recognized and highly appreciated by ASEAN countries and partners, says South Korean Ambassador to ASEAN Lee Jang-keun said.
Australian Ambassador to ASEAN Tiffany McDonald, emphasized that the close cooperation between Australia and Vietnam enhances ASEAN-Australia cooperation and vice versa.
