(VOVWORLD) - The first meeting of the Vietnam-Japan joint committee on waste management was held in Hanoi on Friday as part of the Vietnam-Japan Environment Week.

The committee will map out a plan to build policies on effective, sustainable management and treatment of solid waste in Vietnam.
Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Vo Tuan Nhan highlighted the growing cooperative ties between Vietnam and Japan in environment through technological transfer.
He noted that Vietnam hopes to continue cooperating with Japan, learn from its experience in solid waste management, and call on Japanese enterprises to invest in waste-to-energy projects in Vietnam.
Also, within the framework of the Vietnam-Japan Environment Week, an international conference on pollution prevention was organized to explore the latest available knowledge and cutting-edge technology for the future of environmental protection.
