(VOVworld) – Vietnam has actively joined international efforts to address climate change. In an interview with the Vietnam News Agency regarding climate change programs this year, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Nguyen Minh Quang cited certain measures Vietnam has taken to address the issue, including enhanced management over natural resources and environmental protection, and devising strategies, action plans, and national target programs. Localities, ministries, and sectors have been asked to adjust their development plans in consideration of climate change targets. Minister Quang said Vietnam will focus more on communications to encourage community engagement in climate change adaptation.
Vietnam is one of 10 countries suffering the most from climate change with the Mekong River Delta being one of the world’s 3 deltas mainly affected.
