Vietnam, Laos target 2 billion USD in trade revenue next year

On Wednesday, Choummaly Sayasone visited the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV), a member of the Association of Vietnamese Investors in Laos, AVIL. He praised Vietnamese investors for their positive contributions to Laos’ economic development. He vowed to support Vietnam’s investment projects in the near future and discuss ways to improve cooperation. Two-way trade between the two countries topped 900 million USD this year, up 22%. This figure is expected to reach 2 billion USD by 2015. In the first quarter of next year, AVIL proposed programs to promote investment in Luong Phabang, ground-breaking for the construction of Hua Phan airport, and the construction of Vieng Xay revolutionary base in Hua Phan province.
