(VOVWORLD) -Vietnam values and is determined to bolster its strategic partnership with Malaysia in a practical and effective manner, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue told Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in their meeting in Hanoi on Friday.

Chairman Hue asked Malaysia to consider limited application of trade protection measures against Vietnam goods, maintain supply chains, and boost trade growth in a more balanced manner.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim agreed with the consolidation and promotion of relations between the two countries in all fields and channels. He agreed to consider importing some more products from Vietnam and boost cooperation in many other fields.
The two leaders also discussed the importance of maritime and ocean cooperation and considered the possibility to establish a consultation mechanism for maritime issues and setting up hotlines to combat illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
They agreed to maintain ASEAN's common stance on the East Sea issue and pledged continued coordination the next phase of negotiations on a Code of Conduct (COC) in the East Sea.
