(VOVworld) – Vietnam marked 67 years of the National Resistance Day on Thursday. Sixty-seven years ago, on December 18th and 19th, 1946, the Party Central Committee convened an emergency meeting in Van Phuc, Ha Dong province, which is now part of Hanoi to launch a national resistance movement and prepare for a long resistance war.
Answering President Ho Chi Minh’s appeal, Vietnamese people united against their enemies to defend Vietnam’s independence and sovereignty.
The appeal reflected the lucid and talented leadership of President Ho Chi Minh and the Communist Party of Vietnam who closely made the right choice to open fire, switched over from the defensive to the offensive, and created a new front enabling Hanoi to pin the enemy for two months so that the whole nation could move into a protracted resistance war against the French colonialists.
After 67 years, President Ho Chi Minh’s appeal retains its value. The people’s faith in victory was equal to their desire for national independence and socialism.
