"It’s important to maintain mutual visits and meetings between the two countries’ senior leaders as these activities are necessary to define major directions for pushing forward friendship and cooperation. The two sides will continue their close cooperative mechanisms at multilateral forums and to effectively implement signed agreements," said Ms. Ngan.

The Mongolian guest said Vietnam is an important partner of his country in Southeast Asia, noting that they back Vietnam's candidacy for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council in the 2020-2021 term. Mongolia also supports the settlement of disputes in the East Sea by peaceful measures, in line with international law, including the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

The two leaders agreed that Vietnam will increase exports of agricultural and fishery products as well as processed food products, including rice, tea, coffee, dried fruits, garment and textile products, and vaccines. Meanwhile, Mongolia will increase exports of frozen meat including goat meat, lamb, and beef to Vietnam under safety and hygiene regulations set by the latter.

Later on Monday, Mr. Enkhbold was welcomed by President Tran Dai Quang who called on both sides to strengthen bilateral ties and mutual political trust through exchanges of high-ranking visits and talks. He suggested both countries set out effective cooperative mechanisms in terms of diplomacy, security, defence, and enhance support for each other on international forums.
