During a working session in Hanoi on Monday with domestic scientists and representatives of vaccine research and production units, the PM emphasized that Vietnam must have enough COVID-19 vaccines to inoculate 75 million people this year.
He said vaccination is a fundamental, long-term, strategic, and decisive solution in the fight against COVID-19.
Vietnam plans to buy around 170 million vaccine doses, but delivery is expected to take a long time.
The Ministry of Health said Vietnam successfully developed its own testing kits for COVID-19 and is doing research on ventilator production as well as new treatment methods, and stepping up research and development of domestically made vaccines.
The Ministry also asked the government to set up a center for COVID-19 vaccine production technology transfer.
