During the talks held after the welcome ceremony, the two leaders agreed to strengthen political, diplomatic cooperation through increasing visits and exchanges between the Parties, governments, States, and Parliament as well as people-to-people exchanges. They reached consensus on organizing the 9^th session of the Vietnam-Myanmar Joint Committee, soon adoption of the Action Program on Vietnam-Myanmar Comprehensive Cooperative Partnership in the 2018-2023 period. They pledged to deepened bilateral trade and investment ties to raise two-way trade to 1 billion USD and more.

The two leaders agreed to expand cooperation in training, military medicines, search and rescue, and sports exchanges, organize Defense Policy Dialogue at the Deputy Ministerial level this year, and accelerate negotiations to sign an agreements on anti-crime, extradition, and transfer of prisoners.

They expressed hope to strengthen cooperation in finance, telecommunication, energy, agriculture, transport, tourism, justice, education, and culture.

Discussing regional and international issues of mutual concern, the two sides agreed to increase cooperation at regional and global forums. They emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the region, freedom of navigation and overflight in the East Sea, peaceful means to disputes on the basis of respecting international law, the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, not threatening to use or using force, and pledged to fully and effectively abide by the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea and soon finalize the Code of Conduct in the East Sea.

After the talks, they witnessed the signing of cooperative deals on postal, telecommunications, information technology, and information.
