Prime Minister Phuc said Vietnam always provide favorable conditions for New Zealand’s investors and asked New Zealand to facilitate market access for Vietnam’s agricultural products, first of all fruits such as rambutan, star apple, and grapefruit. He also suggested New Zealand help Vietnam develop human resources, grant more scholarships, and allow more Vietnamese workers to participate in the working holiday programs in New Zealand. He said that Vietnam wanted to learn from New Zealand’s experience in sustainable agricultural development, climate change adaptation, and the sustainable use and management of natural resources.
Prime Minister John Key pledged New Zealand’s close cooperation with Vietnam in economics, trade, and investment, as both countries are members of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement. Vietnam enjoys favorable conditions for developing agriculture, Key said, adding that New Zealand would support Vietnam in developing its food, processing, and dairy industries.
