In an interview with the Vietnam News Agency on the signing of the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement, Professor Ishikawa said the trade pact has new regulations in e-e-commerce, product origin, intellectual property rights, and state enterprises. That’s why the CPTPP is also called the Free Trade Agreement of the 21st century and will become a role model for other FTAs in the future.
The Professor said the CPTPP will be an effective tool to prevent the spread of the US’s protectionism policy as President Donald Trump is implementing several resolute trade protectionism measures including the imposition of 25% tariffs on imported steel and 10% on aluminum.
