As an active dialogue partner of ASEAN, the Republic of Korea will participate in the ASEAN-Korea, ASEAN+3, East Asia Summit and the ASEAN Regional Forum in Vientiane, Laos, this week, according to Ambassador Lee Jang-keun.
He said that one of Korea's top priorities in attending these conferences is to discuss the ASEAN-Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which is expected to be officially announced at the ASEAN-Korea Summit in October.
Ambassador Lee said that, in its role of coordinating ASEAN-Korea relations over the past 3 years, Vietnam has contributed significantly to the relationship. Good relations between Vietnam and Korea will pave the path to better ASEAN-Korea relations.
"In 2022, Korea and Vietnam upgraded our relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, and the importance of this is obvious because this year we are discussing a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Korea and ASEAN. Our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Vietnam obviously paved the way. Vietnam has played an important role, not only as a country coordinator, but also as a close friend and partner of Korea," said Ambassador Lee Jang-keun.
