He reiterated Vietnam’s determination to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 and called on the international community to raise awareness, take more drastic actions, and share responsibility for a green future of all humanity.

Although Vietnam is a developing country with many difficulties, we’re determined to realize the commitment to net zero emissions by 2050, said the Vietnamese government leader.

Vietnam is one of 30 countries who have submitted nationally-determined contributions plans and one of the first three developing nations to join the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP), he noted.

With the international community’s assistance, Vietnam’ll try to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 43.5% by 2030 and raise the rate of renewable energy to over 70% by 2050.

“We are also working with international partners to draft a resource mobilisation plan to be announced at the coming 28th UN Climate Change Conference (COP28) with the hope of turning this partnership into a model to promote just energy transition worldwide. For a green future for all, let's improve awareness, act more drastically, and take more responsibility,” said Mr. Chinh.
