(VOVworld) – The 5^th India-ASEAN Economic Forum opened in India on Friday. This is the first of a series of activities in the lead up to the 14^th ASEAN-India Summit and the 11^th East Asian Summit.

In his address, Vietnamese ambassador to India Ton Sinh Thanh said there are prospects for ASEAN-India economic ties as India one of the world’s fastest growing economies and ASEAN has become the world’s 4^th biggest economy. Mr. Thanh said Vietnam will continue to promote the India-ASEAN partnership and their integration into regional cooperation mechanisms. According to the Associated Chambers of Commerce of India, two-way trade between India and ASEAN has increased from 21 billion USD in 2006 to 65 billion USD at present.
