Addressing a high-level online open discussion session of the UN Security Council on maintaining international peace and security in cyberspace, Foreign Minister Son stressed the need for a global solution to cybersecurity.
According to him, the international community needs to establish an international framework with rules and standards of responsible behaviors in cyberspace on the basis of consensus and with broad and full participation of countries. All activities in cyberspace need to be consistent with the UN Charter and international law, especially respect for national independence and sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs, non-use of force, and peaceful settlement of disputes.
Minister Son said Vietnam’s national digital transformation strategy points out that by 2030 the digital economy will account for 30% of national GDP. In Southeast Asia, Vietnam has actively participated in regional cybersecurity mechanisms, including the ASEAN Cybersecurity Cooperation Strategy, and at the same time has effective bilateral cooperation with many countries and international partners in this field. Vietnam is ready to cooperate with partners to build a peaceful, stable, safe cyberspace environment for the people and sustainable development, he said.
