(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and ASEAN leaders on Friday attended the official working sessions of the ASEAN-US Special Summit, including the meeting with US President Joe Biden, the meeting with US Vice President Kamala Harris on maritime security and COVID-19 prevention, and sessions with Cabinet Secretaries on climate change response, clean energy transition, and sustainable infrastructure.

The United States will invest 40 million USD in the development of clean energy infrastructure, 60 million USD in maritime cooperation, 70 million USD for in educational programs and people-to-people exchanges, and 150 million USD in implementing the ASEAN-US Health Future initiative, supporting ASEAN to improve its climate change response capacity and develop infrastructure.
At the meeting with President Biden, PM Chinh expressed his wish that world powers and ASEAN partners can stabilize their relations, compete in a healthy and responsible manner, contribute to the region in the spirit of transparency, construction, respect for the central role of ASEAN and international law.
PM Chinh reaffirmed ASEAN's stance on the East Sea, stressing the peaceful settlement of all disputes and differences on the basis of international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). Mr. Chinh welcomed ASEAN partners to implement the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) and develop an effective, efficient and appropriate Code of Conduct (COC) in line with international law and UNCLOS 1982.
