The event aimed to look into the countries’ efforts to pursue the targets of net zero emissions, encourage businesses to engage in decarbonisation efforts, and hold a business matching forum to enhance cooperation in the future.
At the business forum held as part of the meeting, Vietnam shared its efforts in efficient energy use to achieve net-zero targets. Pham Van Tan, Deputy Director of the Climate Change Department at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, said that Vietnam and its partner Japan have identified more than 80 projects that could be implemented within the AZEC framework.
“Vietnam, as an AZEC member, joins other member countries in adopting a Joint Ministerial Statement at AZEC conferences, programs, and activity plans in the near future. They will help Vietnam and other member countries move towards net-zero targets in the future," Tan said.
"Since the first AZEC Ministerial Conference, Vietnam and its Japanese partners have identified over 80 projects that can be implemented within the AZEC framework. Japanese businesses and businesses of participating countries will work with the Vietnamese Government and partners to implement projects. In addition to these 80 projects, a series of other projects will also be implemented in the near future.”
