(VOVWORLD) - Five new cases of COVID-19 were detected in the past 24 hours, all of them Vietnamese returning from abroad, the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control announced yesterday evening.

The new patients, two from Angola, two from Indonesia and one from Saudi Arabia, were quarantined right upon their arrival in northern Thai Binh and Ninh Binh provinces, and the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap.
With the new cases, Vietnam’s tally now stands at 1,402, of which 693 are locally transmitted.
Also yesterday, five people were announced to have fully recovered from the virus, increasing the number of recovered cases to 1,246, with the total number of fatalities remaining at 35.
Vietnam’s overall number of COVID-19 cases has climbed to 1,385, including 693 local transmissions and 692 imported cases, all of which were immediately placed into quarantine upon arrival.
Among the positive cases currently undergoing treatment, 20 individuals have tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 at least one.
As many as 19,992 people who came into close contact with COVID-19 patients, or those who entered the nation from pandemic-hit regions, are in various quarantine camps based nationwide. This includes 209 individuals at hospitals, with the remainder being placed into concentrated quarantine facilities or at their places of residence.
