Vietnam resolutely defends its sovereignty in East Sea
(VOVWORLD) -Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Defence Sen. Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh said that the 6th Vietnam-Republic of Korea (RoK) Defence Policy Dialogue at Deputy Ministerial Level in Seoul focused on the nuclear issue of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and maritime security.

Participants expressed concerns over illegal activities including the reclamation work on rocks and islands to turn them into military and paramilitary bases in the East Sea. General Vinh said maritime security in the East Sea has become a global issue. He confirmed Vietnam’s consistent policy to abide by international law and pursue peaceful solutions to East Sea issue. Vietnam is determined to protect its sovereignty in the East Sea in accordance with international law, Vinh said, adding that other countries support Vietnam’s stance on cooperation for peace in the East Sea.
During his stay in the Republic of Korea, Deputy Defence Minister Nguyen Chi Vinh met with Republic of Korean Minister of Defence Song Young-moo and Canadian Deputy Defense Minister Jody Thomas.
