In an interview with the media, Minister Son said both sides agreed to strengthen dialogue and contacts at all levels and across all channels; promote cooperation in all fields; and continue close coordination at multilateral forums.

Russia supports Vietnam's bid to host APEC 2027 and is ready to cooperate with Vietnam to organize this event, Mr. Son said, adding that Russia will continue to support the central role of ASEAN in regional architecture.

Both sides affirmed that economic cooperation remains a pillar and focus of bilateral cooperation and they will continue to work to remove trade barriers; further open the Russian market for Vietnamese consumer goods and agricultural and aquatic products; and promote investment cooperation, especially in infrastructure and energy.

Vietnam and Russia agreed to expand defense and security cooperation; coordinate closely at multilateral defense and security forums; and intensify cooperation in education and training, science and technology, tourism, labor, culture, sports, and people-to-people exchanges.

Senior leaders of both countries voiced their support for a fair international relations system based on international law and the UN Charter.

Regarding the East Sea (internationally known as the South China Sea), both sides supported ensuring security, safety, and freedom of navigation and overflight; and resolving disputes peacefully in accordance with the principles of the UN Charter and international law, particularly the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). They backed the full and effective implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) and the early conclusion of a Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC), Minister Son said.

He reiterated Vietnam’s recognition of Russia as one of its most important partners. Vietnam seeks to strengthen the long-standing traditional friendship and deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Russia. President Putin’s visit demonstrates the importance Russia attaches to Vietnam in its "Pivot to the East" policy, according to Minister Son.
