Vietnam, Russia push FTA implementation
(VOVWORLD) - Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong met with Russian Prime Minister and Chairman of the United Russia Party Dmitry Medvedev in Moscow on Wednesday.

PM Medvedev emphasized that Mr. Trong’s visit to Russia is a vivid demonstration of the long-standing friendship between the two countries. It is also an opportunity for the two sides to deepen their comprehensive strategic partnership and take their ties into a new period of development. The two leaders emphasized that economic cooperation always plays an important role in bilateral ties, and agreed to promote stronger development of economic, trade and investment ties. They reached consensus on pushing implementation of the Vietnam-Eurasia free trade agreement. Medvedev said that the Russian government will work to implement reciprocal investment projects in energy, oil, gas, transport, telecommunications, agriculture, and fisheries. He told Mr. Trong that the Russian government is drafting a treaty on organized labor, people-to-people exchanges, and tourism and promotion.
The two agreed to increase delegation exchanges and consultation on important issues to boost the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership.
