(VOVWORLD) - Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong said that despite complex developments in the world, comprehensive strategic relations between Vietnam and Russia have been consistently promoted for the mutual long-term benefit of the two peoples and the prosperity of the two nations.

Mr. Trong made the remark at a press conference on Thursday following talks in Sochi with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“We agree to consistently implement our comprehensive strategic partnership, strengthen political ties, and improve cooperation in economics, trade, investment, security, and defense. We will continue to create favorable conditions for each other’s businesses and investors in oil, gas, agriculture, and infrastructure building,” said Mr. Trong.
The leaders witnessed the signing of a number of cooperation agreements.
The two leaders were pleased with the results of their talks, which focused on key issues of the Russian-Vietnamese comprehensive strategic partnership and both pledged to strengthen political ties and cooperation in all fields.
They agreed that maintaining peace and stability while enhancing mutual trust is of great importance to the stable development of Asia Pacific.
President Putin said Vietnam and Russia have developed a special relationship through regular dialogues and are comprehensive strategic partners whose ties keep improving because of mutual respect, equality, and shared interests. The two countries will continue to cooperate in all fields and coordinate closely in the international arena, he said, noting that Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong’s visit has created new momentum for lifting the relationship to new heights. Mr. Trong is on an official visit to Russia until Saturday.
