Mr. Hue congratulated the IAEA on completing the first phase of a modern laboratory named Yukiya Amano to improve its ability to help countries contain zoonotic diseases, and address climate change and food safety challenges. He said Vietnam will contribute financially to the second phase of the project.
Mr. Hue urged the Agency to share its experience and provide technical assistance to Vietnam in using atomic energy for economic development, protecting the environment, and combating climate change.
He asked the IAEA to cooperate with Vietnam in technology transfer, training, and using nuclear technology in COVID-19 prevention and control, and said he hopes the Agency will help Vietnam participate in important initiatives like the Zoonotic Disease Integrated Action (ZODIAC) project and activities of the Inter-Parliamentary Union’s Working Group on Science and Technology.
Grossi said his agency will give Vietnam three mobile real-time PCR systems and a large number of biological products worth 558,000 USD.
